Snow Day.

Long Island got its first real snow storm today. As a result, we’ve had to cancel our trip to Albany to perform at Valentine’s with Sgt. Dunbar & The Hobo Banned for their big In The Aeroplane Over The Sea 10th anniversary cover-tribute-set-show-thing. WE WERE SO PUMPED TO PLAY THIS SHOW. Mostly ’cause we dig Sgt. Dunbar and the other band playing, Perkasie. There’s just too much powder and potential ice out there; inclement elements!

Sorry to inconvenience anyone who was planning on making the trip to see us play. It’s our first show cancellation–kind of a drag.

If all goes according to plan, we WILL be playing another show with The Hobo Banned at the end of March, somewhere in New York City! Stay tuned, kra kra kra kra kra kra kra.

Airplay!

“Punched” got a little love on WUSB Stony Brook a few nights ago. To hear it again (sheesh), call (631) 632-6901.

There are a few other radio stations on the east coast who’d probably take a C-HS request:

WMUC Radio (Univ. of Maryland-College Park):  (301) 314-8800

WBFO (Buffalo): 888-829-6000

WTBU (Boston University): (617) 353-6400

February engagements!

Camera-Head Shark is hitting the road! Beginning this Thursday (2/7), the first ”tour” is commencing, as a handful of random shows in various locations have been booked. We’re excited! We also encourage you to check out the bands we’ve been billed alongside. They’re ill.

Monday, 2/11: Purchase, NY: Suny Purchase (The Co-op) (with Greg Baldwin & The Aesthetics and Dreaming Kids)

Friday, 2/15: Willimantic, CT: The Wrench in the Works (with So So Glos & Fiasco)

Friday, 2/22: Albany, NY: Valentine’s (with Sgt. Dunbar & the Hobo Banned & Perkasie)

Hope to see you somewhere else!

Comfort Comes

“What a great name for a band. Every time, I hear that name I literally think of a shark attacking me with a camera. This New York band’s self-released album is what indie pop should be. Its fun, serious and wacky in all the right places and there is a great balance between all of those elements. For example. the first track on the album “Punched” its this funky little tune with even an appearance by an organ. Then you get a track like “Help Me Out” goes with a more Read More »

Well you say you got good news, awwwwwww.

Newsday has rated Oh, You as one of the top ten albums released by Long Island artists in 2007! Coming in at number two on the list, the album …”is the most refreshing disc from Long Island in years.” Self-released music works!

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. We cannot believe the decade is almost over.

2008 is important for us. We’ve got our first tour being scheduled for February, and at some point we’ll release another album and do (hopefully) a summer and fall tour.

Kick off the New Year with a live music performance this Friday in Bethpage! It’s at Whoville Bar & Grill, and starts at 9PM. Also playing is The Fearless.

We’d love to see everyone at a show before the tour starts! Auld Lang, baby.

Thanks for Camera-Head Shark, God

Dear God: Thank You for Camera-Head Shark. I know I’ve been a lousy correspondent-the last time I wrote You was back in 2004 after seeing The Kites. But maybe if You sent me more great bands, You’d hear from me more often.

Clearly, these four Patchogue musicians are pursuing their own quirky, funny, absurdist vision of indie-rock. It’s audible on every track of their debut album, “Oh You,” from the opening number, “Punched,” with its Read More »
